Onshore fishing
Estuary: Most people think the Gold coast estuary are over fished but with the right knowledge there can be quality fish to be caught. Spots such as The Nerang River, Broadbeach and Mermaid Waters are some of the best spots on the Gold Coast. Far up the estuary’s is full with bread and butter species such as Bream, Flat head Whiting and the occasional Mangrove Jack. All these species are aggressive feeders and can be caught on lures and bait.

Competitions: There are quite a lot of fishing competitions to enter in on the Gold Coast which many of them have great prizes to be won. There are competitions to match any styles of fishing, some of these competitions are The Flatty Classic, Light Tackle Masters fishing tournament, Austackle dash for cash bream comp and Bass for cash Hinz dam comp.

Sea way: The majority of the big fish will be caught closer to the sea way, where the faster currents and deeper water is. Live bates lures and dead baits are all affective ways of fishing in the sea way. Species such as Trevally, Mulloway, Mangrove Jack, Kingfish, Mackerel and many other fish species are often caught in the Gold Coast sea ways.

Beach fishing: Fishing from the beach may seem a bit daunting at first but is can offer some of the biggest and best tasting fish on the whole Gold Coast. Big 12ft beach rod with 14-20 bound line and metal slugs or a whole pilchard will work well. You can expect to catch plenty of Tayler, Australian salmon, Mulloway, Flat head and Whiting.
